Isidro Zavaleta, MS, BCBA and Rebecca Zavaleta, SLP, BCBA
Owners
Isidro was born and raised in Brevard County. He grew up in poverty in a family of 6 and learned firsthand the struggles lower socioeconomic families face. He has seen the Space Coast grow firsthand from densely wooded areas to sprawling neighborhoods and golf courses. On his college breaks from Florida State University, Isidro began working at Devereux Florida. Originally an engineering major, Isidro changed his major to psychology after gaining substantial practical knowledge at his part-time job.
Soon after graduation in 1996, Isidro began to further his education by preparing for the then-Associate Behavior Analyst certification offered by the State of Florida. He practiced as an independent Behavior Analyst until 2002 and completed graduate school at University of Central Florida. It was in 2002, he and his wife, Rebecca Zavaleta, a Speech Language Pathologist and BCBA, decided to take a big step and start their own agency; Coastal Behavioral Therapy, Inc.
Isidro has received the 2013 Child Abuse Prevention Task Force of Brevard Business Individual Award for his dedication to prevention and 2023 Outstanding Provider Award from Brevard Family Partnership recognizing over a decade of service working with the foster care children.
Michelle Higgins, MEd, LMHC
Supervising Clinician
Michelle completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. She went on complete her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in New Hampshire, in 2001, and graduated with honors. Concurrent with her master’s degree, Michelle obtained additional specialized certification in Multicultural Counseling. While obtaining her master’s degree Michelle also gained significant work experience working with the disabled population. Michelle initially worked with teenage girls involved in the foster care system of Florida. The focus was primarily on addressing trauma histories, depression and anxiety symptoms and behavioral and conduct concerns.
Following this work, Michelle spent several years working at domestic violence shelter in Saint Thomas, USVI. Here, she worked extensively with women and children experiencing domestic abuse, as well as with other victims of crime, as per The Violence Against Women Act and The
Victims of Crime Act.
Upon returning to Florida, Michelle obtained her licensure in Mental Health Counseling and obtained further training in trauma therapy; specifically, Cognitive Behavioral-Trauma Based Therapy and has worked with children and families in Florida. Michelle is skilled at administering Parenting Assessments and Comprehensive Behavioral Healthy Assessments. Michelle is also certified to provide licensure supervision to new counselors entering the field, Michelle has been practicing in the community with youth of all ages and families from a variety of backgrounds, with specific experience counseling women and children, for a twenty years.
At the present time, Michelle has been helping those involved in the Dependency System through conducting Parenting Assessments with Coastal Behavioral Therapy and supervising RMHIs within the company.
Lytysha Dupont, MS, BCBA
Supervising Behavior Analyst
Lytysha received her B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology and her M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis from Nova Southeastern University. She is very passionate about working with children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since 2010 she has worked with neurodiverse individuals who struggle with emotional and behavioral disabilities across residential settings, public and private schools, home and in the community. She specializes in teaching verbal language, sign language, and the use of communication devices. Additionally, she is interested in research that focuses on the reduction of challenging behaviors, both in increasing the use of evidence-based interventions and evaluating modifications to existing interventions.
